Household Copper-plated Steel Wire Mesh Scourer Washing Flat Round Cleaning Ball
Copper-plated steel wire mesh scourers combine a rigid steel core structure with a thin outer layer of copper. While the copper coating offers slight corrosion resistance and a distinctive reddish appearance, the underlying steel mesh remains intensely hard and abrasive. This makes the scourer fundamentally unsuitable and highly damaging for any cookware with non-stick (e.g., Teflon, ceramic), enameled, or other protective coatings. Using it on coated surfaces will cause deep, irreversible scratching, gouging, and rapid coating failure, permanently ruining the pan. The scourer’s design is intended only for extremely resilient, uncoated surfaces like solid stainless steel sinks or heavy-duty oven components.

Though copper has a softer reputation, a copper-plated steel mesh scourer derives its scrubbing power from its rigid steel base. The copper layer may wear off quickly during use, exposing the aggressively abrasive steel beneath. This scourer is absolutely inappropriate for non-stick pans, coated pots, anodized aluminum, or any surface where scratch prevention is critical. Even brief contact will shred delicate coatings, compromising non-stick performance and releasing particles into food.
