The primary raw material used in this kitchen scouring ball is fine-gauge, low-carbon stainless steel wire. This wire is typically manufactured from austenitic stainless steel grades (like Type 304 or similar food-safe alloys), chosen for their inherent resistance to rust and corrosion under typical kitchen conditions. The specific alloy contains chromium and nickel, contributing to its durability and stain resistance.
The wire undergoes a drawing process to achieve the very fine diameter (commonly ranging from 0.05mm to 0.15mm) necessary for flexibility and effective scouring. Multiple strands of this ultra-fine wire are then coiled and crimped together under high pressure to form the characteristic tangled, three-dimensional web structure that provides the abrasive scrubbing action.
